Basically need a quick fix. Last wednesday we took my boy to a pony club training session, everyone said how well he'd gone and that it looked like we were really starting to get to know one another. Four days later and it's showjumping training, and he jumped the worst he'd ever jumped. He was having to go in a much shorter rhythm and I think he was like, I don't know what you want, because he was running three strides out and hollowing ovre his fences... I have never known him to jump so badly. Last wednesday I was so pleased with him because he had jumped the best ever, and yet like in four days, what changed? It's his third ode at the weekend and now i'm scared that he's going to run and hollow and have poles down, when i'd been so confident of the way he was jumping. What do you think I should do? I don't want to overjump him this week but I feel like we need to just jump on our own to get our confidence back and I can't understand what could have changed so much in four days.

Could it be down to different surfaces, or hard/soft/slippery ground? These factors affected my last horse immensely.

No he hasn't knocked himself, he jumps everything with about 2ft to spare xD Back and saddle were done a fortnight ago and teeth done about a week ago. I think he just didn't know what I wanted... but I will put a little grid up to get us going again this week.
