Well we did promise Ruby that she would get her first intro to proper water so dispite it lashing down we set off......

We trudged....

we searched.....

and finally....the lake.....

which had dried up!!!!

After such an epic trek there was no excuse for either of us......

Not quite what either of us wanted....splashing in a muddy hole but its a start!

And as for collie dog and her Dad.......

Unimpressed!!!!

Lol, whats really irksome is that we did the walk in torrential rain!

Poor collie would have been very happy to stay at home, she hates wet and spent most of the eveing trying to get under the umbrella with OH!

Off to the river next time......at least it should be clean water even if it is only ankle deep!

I have a springy Springer called Ruby and she loves swimming. However, at dog training the other week, since it was so hot, we had our class by a pond rather than our usual clay shooting ground. When asked to go into the water, she wouldn't go near it! All the other dogs were swimming merrily, but Ruby refused to go in! When all the other dogs were out of the water, she happily swam. The following week, the same happened,so our trainer made all the other owners and their dogs move well away from the water.........with no other dogs in the water - in she went! Dog trainer reckons that since Ruby is very nervous and subservient, she wouldn't go in because (in her little brain!) she thought the other dogs "owned" the pond and therefore backed off.......any ideas on this?
