I know, I know.... I'm so nosey! But seeing as I'm in the market wondering how much did you spend on your saddle or Saddles? What type, What do you use them for, Do you recommend?

I've got an Ideal Apex (GP) and that was £750 new. Looking at getting a thorowgood T6 dressage and expecting to pay around £450 for that (again new)

My synthetic was £275 I think (9 years ago) and my treeless was £300. My saddles get dropped/scratched/rolled on way too often to merit getting an expensive one!

I bought a new albion K2 jumping saddle for my old horse, cost just under £1000, I then decided to sell the horse 6 months later and got £600 for it second hand

Mine cost £700 new. Definatley worth it because I had it professionally fitted and it is mega comfy for me and the horse.

I never thought I would spend that much money on a saddle though

A Second Hand Stubben for £350 and a secondhand Prestige Appaloosa Dressage saddle for £150 both of Ebay and they both fittedd - phew.

well my parents paid:
Jefferies Hawk Event (5 years ago): about £850
Stubben Jumping saddle: around £900
Albion K2 jumping saddle: just under £1000
Ideal Jessica flaired: £500
all brand new!

Glad you asked this question as got saddle fitter next week - I like the excel style as really comfy and well made and am hoping to get one in havana for my new neddy - paid £850 two years ago - I hope they have not gone up in price since !!

£250 for a Charles Mountfort GP which was about the only saddle that would fit- took me 5 months to find one that fitted (fitted by a fantastic saddler)
£300 on a Wintec Isabell as well.

wintec GP cair from Townfields

have had several pony Griffin/Thoroughgood 'plastic' saddles and they've all been great and long lasting - haven't worn one out yet in 9 years

so new mare got a cair wintec and it's really comfy

Only thing I don't do is have the 'plastic' leathers - still use proper 'leather' leathers.

although all the saddles are microchipped I don't feel any worry if they did get nicked as they are cheap to replace, fit the horses all year round with the adjustable gullet, and it doesn't matter if it's peeing down with rain on them.

I'll never bother buying another leather saddle - they just aren't worth the money, worry and expense.

Taffi's english GP was £350 ten years ago - the best saddle ever and i am emotionally attatched to it

I'd have another tomorrow if I could, but in a bigger size for delinquent hoss of mine - by far the best saddle I've ridden on. Got a good deal on it thanks to a fab saddler, I miss him

Dan's was £300 in June, but it's a Wintec 2000 with Cair - got a good deal on it too

I'd have liked a leather one but I like the option of it being adjustable and so the best fit which I why I have it.

Erm current saddle are Albion VSD £1000, Thorowgood £280, Wintec 2000 16" £300, Wintec 2000 17" £300.
God only knows how much I have spent on saddles in the past tho! Mind you the albion is the dearest I have ever had BUT well worth in. And the wintecs are great for the babes that I break and bring on,

£400 for my ideal event, ex demo - what ever that means!

£450 for small Welshies saddle as had to have it made as hes a funny shape. Its a GFS.

I ALWAYS lose money on my saddles, but work on the theory that a horse isn't much use without a properly fitting one! Like having a posh sports car with no wheels.

Albion VSD - £930

Prestige Sydney jumping saddle - £1000

ETA - The above prices also include the saddles being professionally fitted. I would recommend both saddles

Wintec Pro dressage with Cair - £400 new,
Wintec 2000 GP with flock - £150 second hand but as new.
I may sometime in the future upgrade to a leather dressage saddle, would probably pay up to about £700 new. My friend paid £1800 for an Albion dressage saddle! I hate it though, it's really uncomfortable! Well my bum hates Albions anyway!

£250 for a leather Farrington dressage/wh saddle off Ebay - it fitted thankfully, and I do everything from showing to hacking and popping jumps in it!

I have a nice english leather fieldhouse one which cost me £300 secondhand,a synthetic thorowgood dressage one which I brought for £40 on ebay and a german leather jumping one which was a present from my YO.

Ideal Event for £350 2nd hand, best saddle I have had

Had Albion K2 and an unknown brand both also for £350 in the past also!

I've just paid £995 for a new Albion K2 GP - well, I actually paid £475 cos I part-exchanged my existing 3 year old Albion. And I thought that was cheap - everyone on my yard seems to have Prestige, Devacoux, Passier etc
