I need to buy a 6ft turnout rug for Welsh Sec. D x Trakhener (15hh) she's quite broad chested. She lives out 24/7 and has trace clip. Looking for a high denier (at least 1000) but not thick lining although want to be able to add lining if it gets really cold. Does anyone have recommendations as to which brand / type to buy as I can't find any like this. All high denier have thick lining?? Advice gratefully received. Thanks :)

I can recommend the Rambo Duo, not cheap but will last you ages. Mine is the original navy blue one and its lasted 5yrs now and its still going strong. Comes with a 300g liner and the outer shell is 100g I believe. You can buy varying liners separately. The neck cover comes off too for warmer days and the newer ones have some modifications to them (my other horse has the newer brown/cream one) I think they are 1000 denier so are strong and hard wearing.

Rambo Duos are fab, also Rhinos are now compatible with the liner system. If she is very broad, you may need to get a 6ft3.

Premier Equine also do a liner system rug.

Shires are good with broad horses and are true to size, but they don't do a liner system. Their Typhoon and Stormcheeta ranges are high denier.
