I bought my Youngster a M/W turnout rug just incase he gets cold this winter.
Tried it on and the length is perfect (7ft) but it looks like a mini skirt on him!!! He is 3/4 TB 1/4 ID and biult more on the TB frame so cant really be his width
Its a Saxon T/O
Is it the make of rug? which makes are 'longer' that way?

Friend has got a saxon rug for her big boned tb and although he is big for tb he isn't what i would describe as broad and his is like a miny skirt only comes to the tops of his shoulders and looks quite comical! she doesnt have the problem with any of his other rugs and he is pretty standard shaped so guess it may be a saxon thing! is strange as i though saxon were owned by W/B yet her heavy weight W/B fits a treat.

Hi, i have also found this with the cheapish type of rugs, i have a Saxon T/O which is also like a mini skirt on my ID x Cob, the same applies with a Rhinegold rug she has.

However Amigo & Weatherbeta Rugs seem to be more generous in length, i have learned that to pay a little more for a rug does sometimes go a long way & that what is cheaper is not always best, you do get what you pay for

I have a few lightweight Saxons in 6'9" they are very short which is great for summer when I'm just trying to keep the rain off my oldies body. No good for colder weather though.

I have Masta and Shires which are both a good length for winter
