Can anyone please recommend me a turnout rug for a little welshie. I tried one on the other day and although it was the right size it sort of bunched up found his withers. He looked like a camel! I think it is because he is wide across the shoulders.

Any ideas?

Our little old sec A needed rigging as she was a wimp! The only rug o could get to fit was a rhino. Can't remember which it was but they were all a blue/purple colour with a kind of half neck & fastened at the front with two clips onto 1 ring. I did have to add some pleats for her front legs though (wasn't hard!!) She was 11.2hh. I'm sure you could find 1 on eBay!!

I have always used Mark Todds on my Sec A. Lightweight and mediums with detachable hoods. Thoroughly recommend and don't break the bank but never pay more than £32 for a lightweight. Some companies charge £49!

Cuddly Ponies are quite good. They are designed for pony bodies. I find a lot of makes are too deep in the body.

I have a section A but I'm going to leave him naked this winter because he's a fatty and I'm hoping he'll burn some calories running around to keep warm.

Thanks guys - I should explain the "why" - I want to hunter clip him at the beginning of next year due to him being a show pony and last year it took until June for him to lose his coat completely!! He started growing his winter again mid August and he is only 3! I think he knows something we dont.

He lost most of his coat but hung onto this very annoying belly and side fluff that was very stubborn!

Seriously frustrating! Anyway, I have a cunning plan that involves that clipping - he he. I want to do some serious LR classes next year so need him looking "top dollar" ;-)

I have to admit that I clip it all off in the spring. Later then most would but it has never affected their summer coats and I cannot bare shedding hair!

I have to admit to hunter clipping all of my past horses because it is so much easier to keep them clean and they only shed a bit of stubble ..... ;-)

Thank god there is another - I thought mine was a freak, did one show with a summer coat at the end of July - gone by second week of August so didn't bother with his second show!

Have to admit I am planning on going down the clipping route too, but he is being backed March time next year so will probably have to wait till he is 5 to see a summer coat at the begining of the summer!:D

Another vote for cuddly ponies. The don't move an inch. I understood that weatherbeeta don't make them anymore though. I could be wrong.
