Welsh Sec B, who's only just turning 4 so is still rather lanky. He has no chest at all so all rugs seem to slip right back on him or are really loose and just sort of hang at the front! Im just wanting a cooler type rug (ie. something to keep him clean overnight before shows etc.) but after buying 2 different fleeces which dont fit - any ideas? Would high neck rugs be better?

see if you can buy one of those rugs that have a clip at the front (as opposed to a buckle) and either get your local rug mender to sew on some extra D's at the front or do it yourself.

Have you tried weatherbeeta ? They seem to have smaller necks.

Get onto dinkyrugs.co.uk. I got my shetland's rugs there, and also dinky tack etc for my section B mare as anything small pony from elsewhere was too big for her. I got her a lycra all in one neck thingy for before shows from them and it fits her brilliantly. I'm always having rugs altered for her and it's a pain, although some of the cheaper Saxon rugs are shallow enough and small enough round the neck. The lady at Dinky is really helpful and will even actually measure rugs, tack for you to see which ones would be a better fit. As you can tell, I'm a Dinky fan! Having said all that, I've just got a new pony who came with some Amigo rugs and they are a good snug fit, and higher round the neckline so perhaps try one of those too?
