All these posts make me giggle.

Cant we all agree to disagree and let people who feel the need to rug, rug and people who dont, don't?

The singlemost awful thing about the horse-owning industry is that it seems to attract awful know-it-alls who seem to think they have the right to pass judgement on everyone!

Why cant we all just accept that there are many different schools of thought in horse ownership and different ways of doing things and just enjoy our horses?

:P

Well said, couldn't agree more

Hear hear!! I've been lurking the last few weeks and have been slightly bemused by the "disagreements" but it does get boring after a while. As long as our horses are healthy, happy and enjoying life, thats all that matters. We all know our own horse best and we know how best to keep them.... I was always told that noone knows it all when it comes to horses and it's very true, we can all learn something new every day

More to the point, is it neccessary to have at least two of these threads pointing out how boring these rugging threads are?

Yes all horses are individual.
Yes a horse's owner knows their horse better than internet people.
Yes its fine to do things differently.

But... its good to discuss things on here and to get fresh, objective perspectives.
Sometimes someone's right and someone's wrong but often its just a load of people airing and gathering thoughts and opinions. Its entertaining, educational and harmless as long as you don't take it too seriously.

I dont take much seriously, but some people do, and its for them Id like to see less off the cuff judgement. It can really upset people, which i think we should all strive against.

I cant agree with this load of rubbish. In the old days we didnt need mixes and supplements or rugs and the horses survived. Ok the average life expectancy was 15 but who wants an old retired equine that is fit for nothing more than a can. And then there is the parelli lot! What is that about? Playing games with horses? What is this carrot stick malarky? Surely a stick is for beating a horse into submission.

Worming- once a year is enough.

And as for getting the vet out for a horse with colic...bung liquid paraffiin down its gob.

Pssst- do you think I could make a good troll?

I have been studying in readiness for my name change...Or am I too obvious?

I'm an open-minded person and would never judge someone who rugs/ does not rug their horse.

Each to their own. If we all did the same thing, there'd be no variety in life and thats what makes like fun! Owners know their horses...and at the end of the day, we all do what we think is best or right for them. Besides, neither of us can truelly judge anyone on here. I think behind a screen people feel safe and are too quick to jump to things. Things can seem a bit hot headed as its hard to display attitude over a computer, things get worded badly etc....

Thats just my opinion, but i would never judge a horse owner, whos simply looking out for the welfare of their horse...whether it be rugged up or not!
