Rug marking??

Hi everyone
Our yard was broken in to on Thursday night, they took one saddle ( my daughters new pony's

) and had removed all of the other saddles and put them by the gate, i think ready to come back for. They also took the generator but must have been spooked before they got to come back for the rest of our tack. They broke into my friends lorry and rifled through the living area, maing a right mess.

We are having a blitz today, we have already removed anything of value ( except our horses-they won't fit in the boot of my fiesta

) and today plan to mark all our lovely new rugs. Can you suggest what to use to mark them that is longlasting? We were planning to postcode them, is this the right thing to do? Also what kind of signs do you have at your yard, i.e all rugs are marks, no tack left on the premesis etc?

This whole thing is really scary. i hate the idea someone has had a chance to look at all of our horses and worry they will come back. Need to think of something to tell my daughter about her saddle as she is only 6 and it will frighten her if she knows we have been burgled..... Thieving Scumbags.

Oh no! poor you, where abouts are you, you should warn others in your area? I hope your new saddle was insured.

We have painted our postcode on our rugs with gloss paint! it works well.

Hi, I have put it on Stolen Tack/Horses etc so hopefully that's where people will see it. We are in West Sussex.

Thanks for the tip -gloss paint sounds like a good idea.

Hi there, having had 4 break ins late last year ( they even took our 3 yo stable doors) I can sympathise greatly.

With regards to rugs - I have made templates out of mdf with their freezemark numbers - and then used long lasting weatherproof cattle marker to spray the digits onto the rug - so far so good
