Is it just me or does anyone else seem to buy rugs they do not need :/ today I just bough two brand new amigo rugs, one fleece with a neck - ideal for after baths, so a reasonable buy -, and a heavyweight stable rug. Ive already got a heavyweight stable rug, but the colour of this one was just too tempting!! Even at a shocking £65.

So does anyone else's horses have a bigger wardrobe collection than their own?? :D

Yes mine are also kitted out better than myself & have to many rugs. I have recently bought 2 Amigo Mio turnouts of a friend both only been used a couple of times & they both cost me less than 1 brand new one so it would of be rude of me to say no :p

My 3 all wear same size rug which is handy :)

I do not have this bug, but many others around me do. My horse has a second hand wardrobe that I bought from a friend as they were all in his size, and the seconds from my previous horse which were basically a medium turnout and medium stable rug. The others (a heavy weight stable rug and a fleece) were given to a friend. As my previous horse was a lot bigger than my current at the time, I bought him his own turnout, but he ripped it so it has been repaired and kept for when he ruins the hand me down. I hate spending money on rugs, and have no room to keep them!

I have a stock of different rugs for M but tbh I only use 4 of them.
No fill TO, MW TO (and even then it has to be really bad), fleece and LW stable rug.

I like to have lots of rugs and don't berate those who do. The one thing I cannot stand is OVER rugging, which seems to be getting more and more common these days. It's a real bugbear of mine.

Oh he doesnt get over-rugged, there have been days in March when he has been turfed out naked :o because its been such good weather, and hes stilled clipped out. But now with these baltic temperatures coming through he is back up to 2 rugs again. I wasn't going to buy them but thought as I had the extra money at the moment and would only get spent on something else I may as well. Not only that but thought the H/W stable I had was a M/W.

That said all his T/O are second hand as the prices are ridiculous, over £100 for a H/W. Anyone else think this is extortion?

No I don't suffer from excessive rug ownership and yes I do think rugs are extortionate... but people WILL pay!

I didn't used to have a load of rugs but have built up a fair collection and we do have a few spares these days. However, having had the odd rug go 'walkabout' when certain members of society decide they will help themselves to items from the yard and use rugs to cover said items, then having spares are very useful!

No, extra rugs are just to clean and store and so long as I've got a rug that fits well and one spare then I feel that's enough for my horse's needs.

I have a bank of new spare rugs , only ever pay 50% of rrp by buying at odd times through clearance sites in the summer. My lot then spend the winter working their way through destroying the lot. Group turnout is a lovely but expensive habit with young fit horses!

Yep we've got group T/O split mares and geldings. And most of the boys are 3-5 year olds so very playful!! Rugs always get trashed! Plus nice to swap rugs over if they are soaking wet as we have a rug room so they can dry on the hangers as such.

Mine all have to have a colour scheme each (probably shouldn't admit that), so I end up buying loads of rugs if I come across them in the right size and colour just incase I need them as spares or others get ripped in future
