Rug problems

One of my horses is a 5 9 rug but if i get him that size the belly straps can go round him twice so i squeeze him in 5 6 others must have this problem what do you dr can you recommed me a rug which as shorter belly straps

Why don't you just shorten the straps?

Make a fold and sew it up with some strong thread. Easy peasy.

what type of rug do you currently use?
have you shortened it as much as it wil as boxers suggested?
what type of horse is it?
i use amigo rugs on my 14.1hh new forest and the straps are fine for her (5'9 rug)

Had this trouble with some fly rugs. I put a knot in.

Your local rug cleaners should be able to shorten the straps for you. It should be relatively inexpensive.

My rug is amigo as well its to fit spanish 15 hands but the straps are double to long

i put a twist or 2 in - my IV horse rug is generous on straps.
bring both surcingles under the rug to your side with them crossed as if to do them up, then turn the pair upside down, and upside down again to add a twist that ties them together. do as many twists as necessary, then you can fasten one and the other won't swing back as its twisted round, then fasten 2nd.

Tie a knot in them right up by where they attached to rug, that's what I do.
