Yes I do mine either with an aerosol or a liquid which you can either apply with a paintbrush or I find it easier to put it into a spray thingy that gardeners use (has a pump on it then a continuous spray). It's a weather seal that I use that does material aswell as bricks etc. You can also buy a reproofer by nikwax (i think!) that you put in machine when washing rugs, but I didn't find it as good & it was more expensive
If your rug will fit in your washing machine then get a liquid re proofer that you apply in the machine on a rinse wash if the rug is clean that is.
Or you can get a spray if your rug is too large.
Modern fabrics don't need the thick slap it on rug re proofing wax that we used to apply to the old canvas new zealand rugs. It's sprays or liquids now.
Main thing is to get the rug as clean as possible before you start.
Thanks, Rugs are clean as am able to wash them its just the reproofing I need to do now. Was going to have them done by rug wash company but thought it might be cheaper to do myself!
I've just bought a 2.5lt tin of Fabsil (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grangers-Fabsil-Waterproofer-2-5-Litres/dp/B000XY5ZHG) and plan to paint that onto my Tristar rugs this year before using them again. It's meant for tents and I'm not sure how it'll affect the 'breathability' of the Tristars but anything's got to be better than them leaking like they did last year
I bought my 2.5lt tin from Trago Mills for just under £12 so if it does both rugs and works, I'll be pleased.
