I have a Rambo Supreme lightweight and have had to have it repaired the last couple of years which meant it being washed and proofed first.

Ideally I wouldn't wash the rugs but brush them but they have to be cleaned before mending.

Well, now its leaking. It was repaired and proofed about a month ago and I used it for the first time during torrential rain yesterday. His body got soaked and I am loathed to put it on again unless I can, more or less, get it watertight.

Any help would be much appreciated. He is out 24/7 and his rugs have to withstand the elements, which this rug did do but the washing must have affected the weave of the material, I suspect.

try the stuff you get from halfords for £9.99 its for reproofing tents but its worked on all my rugs - 1 bottle can do about 3 rugs :)

If you have aldi near by the last week they have been selling reproofing for tents and out door equipment
And its about 1-2.00 for a big can

Just to say if mine need repairing I would wash first, then mend & reproof last of all to make sure any new bits are waterproof. I use a tent reproofer too - can get it in a can from local warehouse, then put it in an old sprayer thing & spray it on xx

Have people been having joy with the Halfords stuff on lightweights, then? I might be asking the impossible as God knows what brand my ancient but sturdy one is but it was reproofed a month or two back at cleaners' and boyo went out in it today and predictably came back looking like he'd gone out naked. Joy. Loathe to put a MW on him tomorrow as even with the rain it's mild and he's a warm one anyway.
