Blinkin horse has ripped his Mark Todd medium weight rug

- so I need to get another sharpish. Typically at this time of year money is tight (when isnt it!) so I need something half decent on a budget. Must be medium weight and must be a combo. He has quite large shoulders so am going to avoid the wetherbeeta with freestyle (not yet find a horse that they dont rub bald). Really dont want to spend anymore that £60 ish
Can it be done? Anyone recommend anything?

How about using a lightweight and underrug until you can get medium weight fixed?? Probs not very helpful but might work

My lightweight has no neck so I'd rather not - specially with all the downpours we've been having

He is a 6'6" to 6'9" depending on make - so would probably drown him! Thank you very much though. What are the Rhinegolds like value for money etc etc??

How do the sizes come up? On the small or large side?

I don't think you can beat the Weethabeeta Landas or Oricans. I have found the fit to be great on all kinds of different horses, although I tend to buy standard rugs & neck covers (gives more use flexibility) I do have a Landa combo currently being used on a 16.3 TB filly who is out 24/7. The rug doesn't slip, rub or leak. I brought it secondhand off ebay, & I've had it two years so it must be one of the first they made in the 'freestyle' shape.

Oops just read all of your original post!!!! Have to say though I'm using these rugs (standards + neck covers) on a H/W show cob, & another one on a 17.3 shire x, and if I was buying new I wouldn't buy anything else!

Im sure I saw the Weatherbeeta Arion on Equestrian Clearance for £65. They have both versions but I think the freestyle is much much better.

Well Dolly has to have a 6'9" cos of her ahem,'large' bust. I bought this off ebay last year, 2ndhand and it seems a good well made rug, fittings in the right place, additional leg straps too. Only thing I found wrong with it was one clip of the neck cover was broken (on one side only and too lazy to sew another on!) but still did up with the velcro and didn't move. You can always borrow it until you can get another, you're near enough!
