Rug reproofing

What rug reproof would you recommend for use in a normal washing machine? My ponies rugs are small enough to fit in the washing machine so no expensive cleaning for us

I went to our local camping and caravanning place and got the stuff they spray on tents to waterproof them, it works a treat

I went to our local camping place too, and they recommende what I already used - Nikwax. It is very good.

I use Lincoln but put it in an old spray bottle and spray it on rugs! Really works!

Wash them and dry them first and then paint on Thompson's Water Seal... it's about a fiver from a DIY shop (it's for bricks as well as canvas goods!) and I reckon you'll get two pony rugs done with one tin. It's worked brilliantly on my boy's rugs and cheapish too
