Rug Ripper!

Hello all, this is my first post, but I was hoping that I could pick your brains. My pony shares a field with two other mares one of which is ripping her rugs. I wondered if there was anything I could put on my pony's rug to stop her?

Hi, I'm thinking of a mixture of chilli pepper and???? Hoping someone might be able to help.

Chilli Pepper and Mustard? Might make your rugs look a little funny though! Do they rip it anywhere, or just in a specific place? If its the latter, might be able to paint it with crib stop?

She rips what ever bit she can get hold of, luckily she doesn't get Honey too often. I will try the chilli and mustard. thanks

Robinsons do a headcollar attachment that prevents the rug ripper getting a hold on the rugs. No idea if it works but at about £12 it's worth a try if owner agrees.

If you try the mustard & chilli let us know how it goes.. I have the same problem & have tried all the crib stop & them type of sprays but I found that because they just grab the rug with their teeth & rip it's already ripped before they even taste it. I've now opted for 2000 denier ballistic rugs!! eeeK!

Thanks I will look into that. I think the owner might agree as she is a bit embarrassed that her mare has wrecked 3 rugs in three weeks.

Go for canvas rugs - so much cheaper and much more hard wearing!!

Well I tried an oil base with Jalapeno pepper sauce. (It's what I had in the cupboard). The Rug Ripper licked it and so far no more rips. But it is early days.
