My thin skinned TB has a sore on each hip from her fly rug. She was unwell and lost a lot of weight so they stuck out, and before I knew it, the skin was off and they were raw and bleeding even without the rug on!
She has been in and out of the vet hospital for other reasons over the last few weeks so obviously they have been cleaning them and applying flamazine, and I have been doing the same but they just aren't healing. Every time she rolls any scab that was there just comes straight off.
She's not worn a rug since she got them (maybe once in the rain) but is out 24/7 and she will need one overnight soon.
I have tried sticking a cotton pad on them with tape but this just comes off when she rolls too. They do heal ok with what we are doing so it's not the wound management that I'm struggling with, just need something to put on them which will stay so that her rolling and wearing a rug isn't going to rub them again so they can heal properly. She's had them for about 6 weeks now so really need to get them healed before she's in a rug all the time.
Pictures don't show the wounds very well but you can see where they are.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
