My horse has recently started rubbing the top of her tail out. I don’t think it’s sweet itch or anything like that as it only happens when I put a rug on for turnout. It also is not sore or hot to touch. She doesn’t wear one unless it’s the thick of winter but with this recent cold weather spell she’s needed it as she’s lost most of her winter coat. I’ve got the correct size rug and it’s all fastened securely, it also hasn’t recently been washed so I don’t think it could be to do with detergent.
Has anyone please got any ideas for what I can do to protect her tail? Or what may be causing it? It’s been raining quite bad the last few days as well (not sure whether that may be the culprit) and the flies are almost non existent.
Thanks in advance
