My horse is now one of those awkward in between sizes. When he was a youngster he went from 5ft3 to a 5ft9 rug. Then he bulked out at bit and has spent most of his life in a 6ft rug. Now he's getting a bit older and lost a bit of weight, I find his 6ft rugs quite spacious all over. I decided to buy the same make and model of his current rug in a 5ft 9 and low and behold it looks too tight :( The only difference was the 5ft9 was classed as the pony version. Surely there really can't be that much difference between 3 inches or do the pony rugs come up smaller all over? They're all Horseware Ireland rugs, I really like them but just a bit amazed at the difference between one size!

I think the pony style may be cut differently. my 5'9 HW is def horse dimensions, i can just about squish my 6' horse into it and it looks "right".

that said, if he's lost weight it may be the style is no longer ideal rather than the size being wrong, particularly?

I'll need to check out and see the difference between the pony and horse 5ft9 dimensions then. I thought 5ft9 was just automatically 'pony' size, I didn't realise they done 5ft9 in 'horse' size!

The style is fine, I don't think it's that. He got them all brand new last year or maybe the year before and he's filled out slightly more since so the style shouldn't be a problem.
