Turnout rug was stolen off a horse in a field - luckily they left the under-rugs so the poor thing didn't freeze. It has been reported to the police.

Oh Blimey.... that happened to me whilst I was renting some fields in Bromley, Kent... in total I think they nicked about 5/6 rugs from my horses backs including the one on my old mare who was about 26 at the time!!!.... they even came back and nicked the new ones I had bought and had marked in big white paint with my postcode......

I think perhaps these people who are stealing rugs are doing so for their own use - I doubt anyone would nick a rug that had been paint marked with a post code. Would anyone buy a rug with a post code painted on it??

That really is a lousy thing to do - poor horses.

This happened to a friend in December, it was -7 and they took ALL the rugs off 2 ex-racers, one of which was clipped out!
This was Beds/Herts borders and was mentioned in H&H a few weeks ago.

There are some really sick people out there.

This happened alot in 2007 near our yard that YO refused to turn horses out in there good rugs, so they had to go out in old buggered ones, which meant they weren't as warm.

but it was better then risk having them taken and leaving them without. as our fields are away from the house

Can I just add that this happened in Bromley around 12/13 years ago... so its not a new thing...

happened recently to a friend of my daughters and they took all the rugs from her horses which were living out...

Some people are just not nice at all.,,, what happens to these rugs is a bit of a mystery but then I dont suppose these sort of people have any concience!!

A old woman tried to steal the rugs off 2 ponies belonging to the people who owned the field I once used.

When their teenage son caught her in the act of trying to pinch them, she started screeching 'rape, rape'. He was on the other side of a spikey iron fence at the time!!!

My god some people are just scum, there are enought cheap rugs on the market.
These people cannot be horse lovers as no-one who loves horses would steal a rug off a horses back full stop and especially not in this weather

Some ******** tried pinching Star's rug last December. She was seen wearing it just before dark, and when I got there 45 minutes after dark - all the buckles on the chest were undone. this rug is fastened with clips. Luckily, it seems she walked away from them before they got to the neck fastenings. (she hates having rugs fiddled with LOL)

Some real saddo's out there,
