I have just started turning out 24/7 as he's going on grass livery soon and want to get him used to it.

No rug, he was fine this morning. I'm clipping him tomorrow so he will get a LW on at nights, and during the day if it rains or is cold.

Mine are in at nights now.

The 2 natives dont get rugged- they just get hairy and neither does enough work to justify a clip.

The old lad feels the cold and drops weight quickly....although he is getting fluffy and sweaty now so he usually gets a full clip and then rugs as appropriate.

It has been down to single figures here the last couple of nights so he is having a fleece on right now.

My tb is in a lightweight if it is chilly in the day and a m/w at night, and my tb x is in a lightweight at night....the baby horses not wearing rugs!
My tb been in lightweight at night all over the summer! He is a chilly one!

My TB mare is out naked during the day if it is nice and is now in at night naked..... However, I did wonder if she should have a fleece on last night as it was cold.

To all those using lightweight's...
Are they the no fill jobbies? I'd have thought they would make your horse less able to keep warm tbh as they will make the coat lay flat . Unless its raining of course...I can see why they would help then.
