Hi just asking what everyone would suggest rugging a clipped Tb with when he gets brought back into stable in September will be getting clipped then. Last year he had a fleece rug and a lightweight turnout rug on over the top but is there any more I should be rugging or any better rugs I could put on him to keep him warm? He didn’t seem to have a problem losing weight last year but just want to make sure we don’t lose any this year either!

instead of putting a fleece under a no fill rug which in my opinion often ends up pulling tight around the shoulders, buy him a turnout with some fill in it like a 50g or 100g then he can just wear that on its own when his out in the field or in the stable.

I think you'll need to wait until we start getting winter really but agree with the above. I found rug liners last winter and they were just brilliant. I had my horses in a light weight turnout for the whole winter (you will be different as mine weren't clipped) and then a 100g liner that went on under the lightweight when it went below -5. It was a revelation and defo the way forward for me.

Depending if i continue to ride this winter will determine if i clip so i might buy a 200g liner for each of them so that will be a 100g lightweight turn out + a 100g and 200g liner and i will just play around with those.
