What is everyone doing rugwise at the moment?

Its cold and rainy here in Somerset but not freezing. My mare is currently out 24/7, naked. she was full-clipped in Winter but has grown out and summer coat is totally through. All the other livery mares are either only out at night (rugged) or only out during the day (unrugged). My boss thinks they are mad and none of his mares are rugged but I'm not sure.

I know my girl hates being in but do you think she would be happier with a rug on? She would have to wear it 24/7 because i can't get up in the morning and take it off. She is very fit and not carrying any weight but she has a big feed everyday as well as good grass. Am i being mean? I'm not into treating horses as 'pets' but the weather is so changeable at the moment. Are you rugging at night still???

Mine are out 24/7 and have had a lightweight rug on since the weekend. It's soooo cold, and damp... and they're 'hardy' cobs! I can't get up to change rugs in the morning so they've got them on full-time as well. I think you're being very sensible!

Amy has a rug on for the first time in two years! The cold wind and rain has really caught us out - and she gets cold to the point of shivering.

Both mine are out at night and in during the day. The gelding has no rug at all as he has been out for a while but my little mare who is new to us has been a bit pampered so only has her rug off if it is really warm at night (and dry)

The last few nights Chex has had his mw full neck on, with a lw on during the day. Its much milder tonight, so he's just got his lw on.

Lottie is in by day and out by night with a light weight rug on. She is a section D, so probably too pampered.

thanks everyone.

Pony went out last night with her L/W turnout on. Hopefully weather will improve soon because it really doesn't fit very well and rubs her shoulders (one of the many reasons I was loathe to go back to rugging).

I felt rather sad as I lead her out to the field in her pre-summer wardrobe but she seemed happy as larry and stormed off cheerfully to kick the little ponies into shape.
