Having huge issues finding rugs to fit my yearling. He's borrowed another horses 5'6 which just covers his bum but the shoulders are huge. He's going to need a 5'9 possibly 6' for winter but I can't find anything or anywhere that does rugs for narrow shoulders. All the straps are knotted to make them short as possible, unless I find a good rug repairer to modify his rugs to make the shoulders smaller fitting. Any suggestions or similar problems?

Could you perhaps gather up a bit of the material, fold it over itself at the edge of the neck & put a few stitches through the hem to hold it tighter?

Hi, I found Saxon rugs to be quite good when I had my youngster as they are quite short in depth and fitted quite well at the chest - my little man was very skinny in chest. Brill from a budget point of view as he kept growing out of them :)

I did buy a Derby House own brand rug and that fitted quite well but he was about 3 at that time so he had "chunked" up a bit by then.

Agree with the Saxon, think made by weatherbeeta, I've got one on a young TB with narrow shoulders and the fit is much better than I was expecting. I'm also buying him and amigo with hood turnout

Cheers you lot. Think I'll give derby house and Saxon a go as he's growing like crazy and I don't want to spend a firtune

Are amigo rugs not expensive though? I'm thinking £60 is his budget per rug and he'll need 2. I'm trying my hardest to not buy him any yet, he'll have to stick to handy downs coz he's growing so fast that just my luck he'll of outgrow a 5'9 by Xmas. I told him the other night to stop growing up and to grow out instead

Ones for winter, so 1 heavy 1 medium. None of my others have ever needed heavy ones but I've fought to keep weight on him with the rain and wind so don't need him shivering it off again when we get the snow
