Can anyone recomend a stable rug brand for horses who have deep shoulders and chests? I have a 16.2hh warmblood who has lovely big shoulders and chest, he takes a 6'6" or 6'9" depending on rug but I am struggling to find one that fits really well without rubbing or constricting. I am using a vest but that does not stop the constriction in front. Any brands that you have tried and tested would be appreciated!

i have the same exact problem, ramnbos seem to fit my hanoxtb rather well, maybe trying a fal, I know WB's are not very good. My premier equine has not arrived yet but will let you know as i have heard good things about them

I use weatherbeeta on our clydesdale x. He is absolutely huge at the shoulders and a very deep neck. The new weatherbeetas give you many length options in buckling up at front for adjustment, and are pretty deep too. Rambos are deep but slim in width but have no adjustment with their clips.
I think Weatherbeeta have come along way in rugs and I think they hold excellent value for money.

My huge-shouldered ID X has a Weatherbeeta lightweight stable rug which fits her very well, but the turnouts don't fit at all. Similarly, she has Mark Todd turnouts that fit ok, but the stable rugs don't fit at all! So I'd say, as a general rule, any brand that doesn't fit in turnout rugs!
Seriously though, Weatherbeeta stable rugs are good, and apparently so are Horsewear (the turnouts fit Maiden as well as the stable rugs).

Have found that the Horseware Amigo fits my ID as an nz so am looking at the same make in a stable rug along with the Mark Todds.

I've never thought highly of weatherbeetas until today!

My 15.1 Irish bog trotter as he's affectionately known is broad across the shoulders. He's normally in 6' rugs but we tend to get him 6'3 just to have the extra room across the front. Today we bought the Taka H/W contour combo T/O and it is mahooosive across the front. It is done up on the tightest fastening and he has plenty of room for manouvre. He was lovely and toasty in it too when he went out tonight

I had that problem on my cob and found the a masta stable rug was really nice and deep. However have also found the shires windjammer stables to have enough room around the front.

it really does depend on the horse, my welsh d wears weatherbeeta, rambo or mark todd and my arab cross wears weatherbeeta. I've tried masta and shires rugs and neither fit on either of mines shoulders...
