I have just bought my first cob :) I was wondering what make of rugs you all put your cobs in?

Tried my arabs weatherbeeta on him and its too small around the shoulders. Any recommendations?

I have a cob and tried a lot of rugs ( mostly, luckily, second hand and then sold on!). Weatherbeetas too big, slide and as you said, small around shoulder, fal pro just slide everywhere. Best i found were the mark todds and horseware, (amigos), they just dont move! Though I have heard good things about premier equine rugs, very roomy (does that mean they slip too?). Tried masta but didnt really like them either!

The best rugs for my cobs seem to be either the Horseware (I really like their Amigos) or Premier Equine. Many of the cheaper rugs (Weetherbeta, Shires etc) are way too narrow on the shoulders and rub.

I have just bought an Amigo turnout for 14.1 cob and it fits very nicely! Please let us know which ones fit..really useful info..thanks.

I would steer clear of Mark Todd rugs as I find them pretty small on the neck/shoulders on my mare. She's not a cob but has a huge shoulder on her. That being said I do like Mark Todd rugs, as they are nicely contoured to her shape, so I just use a chest expander on the chest straps to accomodate for the small neck on the rug.

Irishcob - funny you say about WB -I have always found them quite generous on the shoulder actually?

Masta rugs fitted my cob perfectly, not too long because he was short backed but it also wasn't tight. Probably better rugs out there but he trashed his a lot so masta had to do:p

I've just bought a Masta 2in1 for my VERY chunky cob & it fits him brilliantly. Very generous & adjustable at the front.
It has 100g fill with an extra 100g detachable liner for only £59.99 from ECW!
The only other rugs I've found generous enough for his ample body are those from The Big Horse Shop. Not cheap but definitely worth the £££ IMO

Another vote for Premier Equine - they really do fit the chunkier frame. But, they are expensive these days and if you can't run to those I find that Shires fit well too.

Yet another vote for Premier Equine, They are very good quality and versatile. I have also used Mark Todd which fit OK but nowhere near the quality. I also find amigo's far too shallow. Weatherbeeta slip terribly on mine, And I've never been a fan of Masta, the necks seem to "choke" the horses. Congratulations on having your first cob!!
