do rugs loose any thickness?
my horses reasonably old turnout rug - although still in near perfect condition - was a stormbreaker, so meant to be 300g, although now it *feels* more like 100g..
can they loose thickness over time, or do they just thin out? surely it cant be as warm as when it was brand new..? </font>

The rug still has the same thickness of quilt/filling inside, unless the quilt fairies have pinched a bit

Yes they do flatten, but see it as a quilt you are using...they squish with use but still keep you as warm

As hadfos says - the quilting compacts down over time and though of course there's still the same amount in there, it probably won't keep your horse as warm because the thick, fluffed up filling is designed to trap a layer of air. Compacted down, it won't do.

yup they do... even the expensive rugs. When I bought new Wug plus's (worst name for rugs EVER!) they were much warmer than the older ones...!
