I feel like a bad mother as mine are now out 24/7 without rugs and it was -1 last night! Mine both had full clips in January so summer coats are starting to grow through! They are both good dooers although have come out of winter as a perfect 3/5! My attitude is that they apparently get 80% of warmth from food and they have plenty of grass in their field and can move around to keep warm. If they had still been in at night then they would have still had lightweight stable rugs on. It is due to rain on Tues so I may put l/ w turnouts back on! Anyone else got their horses out rugless?

I would think its a but unfair having clipped them in January but that's my opinion I tend to rug even in a lightweight untill May
But then I go take rugs on and off each day depending on weather

Don't beat yourself up about it, I think the temp dropped more than expected, they will be fine, I expect their January clip has really grown out a bit, it is now april, dont worry, it is hard to judge fully every time, better on the cooler side than a horse overheating imo :)

I'm going between loads of rugs at the moment the temp is fluctuating so much!! Last week while it was nice Bailey stayed out so he was naked in the day and had his middleweight with a neck on overnight, it looks nice today but I think he'll be in his lightweight this week and come in overnight and have his stable rug on! I just want to put some rugs away :)
