ive had my pony for just over a year, so have only been through one winter with him. last year i got him a weatherbeeta landa medium weight (220 filling i believe) rug because he didnt have one before as he is a stocky breed and wasnt being used for anything before i got him. i only really got him a rug to help save grooming time (does that make me lazy!?
) & to stop him getting drenched by the lovely british weather, but really he can cope without. he had already got quite a lot of his winter coat by the time i got him a rug because i had to find the money (at that point i didnt have a job!).
this year do you think he will be ok with the same rug all the way through winter or is it worth getting a heavier weight one for those really cold days? there is a chance he might have a stable unlike last year & if he does he will come in at night so will get him a stable rug, but i was just wondering if he will need a heavier turnout because his winter coat might not all come through as he will have a rug on earlier this year
sorry if that makes no sense...
