Even though Ive got the correct sizes in turnout rugs for one of my old ponies, I still cannot find one which does not slip! He currently has a WB Landa and Orican. In the past he's had an old canvas one and a Rhinegold one (which was crap anyway) but all have slipped right over on him!

I think his problem is that he has quite a narrow chest (although he's a native) and rugs seem to be too loose round the neck and slip back and then somehow slip right over to the side! And no amount of lengthening / shortening of the leg straps help. Its got to the point where I save rugging him for the really worst weather due to the slippage and him being uncomfortable.

I know there are the odd makes of "pony" rugs, but I really want a decent make (at least 1200 denier) which wont slip?!

How big is he? I got a Fal Pro for my old boy and it fits a treat. It was from a girl who buys direct from the factory think I paid £80. Let me know and I'll see if I can fish out her number.

I'd also say that on all shapes and sizes of ponies I've never had a problem with Fal rugs. Horsewear rugs are also good and perhaps fit the narrow chested a little better - I find they come up a size smaller than the Fals.

I've finally found someone via ebay to supply a nylon lined small pony rug for our foal and it's super. If it's a small rug you're after let me know and I could pm you her details.

I like the Fals, they have always fitted mine really well but I find they tend to come up a bit bigger than other makes

He's a 13.2hh and takes a 5ft3.

Thing is with Cuddly Pony rugs, Ive heard quite a few people saying they leak like hell apparently? I dont know if this is the case but it has put me off them a bit and they are only 600 denier, I only ever buy rugs over 1200d nowadays as find they dont leak!

We got Dolly a GOREGOUS hw Masta rug, full neck (separate) and it's the only rug that fits her PROPERLY! She's only 12.2 and is a barrell, so we had a problem with slipping too...until now!

As a lover of Masta I have to say for small ponies DON'T. the necks are so big that they leave the entire chest exposed. Shires rugs fit small, narrow ones pretty well.

Its got to be horsewear all the way...i Have 2 rambo turnouts (5'3) which i have had for the last 10, possibly more years and although we are now down to only one surcingle, and one strap at the front they never ever ever move! Have an Amigo for him and a rhino combo and all are fantastic - you get what you pay for.
