This yr Blue has a rug with removeable hood when usually he's had a built in hood.

I'm always finding that the hood has flapped down and there is a gap all the way around where the hood is attached to the rug??

I've tried to do the fastenings up as tight as they go but it still seems to be happening?

Rug is a Masta HW - the pink coloured one?

Snap - I've got a middleweight Masta and it does exactly the same thing.

I find mine really heavy too - much heavier than his Mark Todd HW T/O which I have switched him too as although its technically a heavier weight, its more breathable, lighter to handle and its a combo so no gaps! He seems happier in it too :-)

I have 2 Fal Rugs which are about 5years old now and they have detachable hoods. The hoods zip on with a velcro bit of material covering the zip to keep it clean.

I find these are the best as they dont have any gaps.

This is why I don't like Masta rugs!

All the hoods I've tried that are sold seperately to the rug and clip onto the d-rings are crap! they flip up even on calm days and let the rain in.

I however bought a (very expensive!) Weatherbeeta tristar rug which comes with a velcro detachable hood. Wasn't too keen on the idea but it's been perfect.

The velcro's secure and leaves no gap but the hood itself has a funny cut and darts added so it's shape clamps down and holds in place. It's actually quite difficult to flip up by hand and has never once flipped up despite being worn 24/7 in howling gales. Very pleased
