Hi
Can anybody give me somwe advise on rugs, I have a 16hh cob he is quite short coupled and very big around his shoulder last year I bought 2 new weatherbeeta rugs which just dont touch him, because he is white on his neck (and rubs his crest when he rolls) I use a combo rug to help keep him clean.. Today I got a Shires stormbreaker to try but it doesn't fit. The problem is to fasten the front it ends up so high up his neck that the rug is far too far forward. Anyone out there had the same problem and solved it?
Thanks
Joy

I wouldn't recommend Masta, I had one of their turnouts a while ago and it was terrible. it leaked like hell and got absolutely shredded in one winter! I also had their cooler which also ripped (and they were on a horse who was not a rug-ripper!).

What about Fal? I have one of their high neck rugs. Its quite narrow across the chest (great for my TB) but I also have a chest extender for it so it also fitted my wide chested WB and my Welshie.

My horse has a Masta and it's the best rug ever.... doesn't leak, and though he has ripped other rugs, this one is intact, this will be his third winter in it!

If Magic Melon's rugs were on a horse that is not known for ripping rugs, perhaps it was another horse that did the damage through play...or perhaps the rug ripped itself?

Did you get in contact with Masta? I'm sure they'd be horrified to see one of thier rugs perform in this way and would offer you your money back or atleast a replacement.

I have a very broad shouldered cob and have always used Masta's with no problems at all. In fact I have 2 cobs. One is 15.1hh and takes a 6ft Masta and the other is 15.2hh and takes a 6'6" Masta. Both fit really well and do a great job.

I like Horseware, their Amigo range is nice. My cob has an Amigo and it's the only one out of all his rugs that has stood up to the beating he gives them! The expensive ones all come in in pieces but the Amigo has been fab. Bought a Mark Todd HW for this winter but have yet to see how that will stand up to him.

Ive had leaky Masta rugs as well and now use Amigos which I think are fabulous.

Ive also started using the rugs from Premier and reckon they are the best value, quality rugs on the market.

Rugs that are quite generous for the larger-chested horses include Masta and also Mark Todd. My last horse fitted Weatherbeeta rugs really well but new neddy is begger in the chest and both Masta and Mark Todd fit him well. Hope that helps!

I love the Fal rugs for my wide chested and hate the horseware with the diagonal fastening. Why they did that I will never know. The original Rambos fitted my broad ones beautifully so guess who bought them both brand new Wug plus's which don't got near them and rub like mad.

Now I use Fal as my main ones and the Olympian rugs as a cheap and cheerful. Both are generous. My big chap requires a 7ft6 in Weatherbeet and it is a hopeless fit. He takes a 6ft9 in both Fal and Olympian as they fit well.

Seen some bargain ones of both makes on Ebay so off there now to spend even though I probably shouldnt
