Hi, I don't know if this is common - I had it hapen for the first time last year but only with fleece rugs
If my horse has two rugs on he gets the most awful static shock and it seems to be getting worse - i have tried 4 different materials and types of rugs but it keeps happening, anyone had this or know why this happens? & what i can do to stop it other than using just one massive rug
Thanks

Just an idea - have you tried to use a wool under rug rather than a fleece? If wool is too warm, a cotton one? I personally don't like wearing fleece because my hair gets static :-D

Hi
yeah i happened with fleece last year so didnt use it this year - it has happened with nylon and cotton - have not tried wool so thats an idea thanks

This sometimes happens with totos fleeces and always does in the summer when he has his fly rug on which he hates. No ideas on how to stop it but have found that if you sort of roll them up instead of pulling them off they don't seem to do it as bad! Hope this helps

Wool rugs all the way, it is a shame that they are no longer 'fashionable' as they are excellent. I hate fleece rugs with a vengeance because of the static, so do my horses.

The Witney 'day' rugs are good but they aren't exactly lightweight so I can understand why they aren't as popular.
