Whats your fave brand of rug??

Another vote for PE. I have a minimal fill (can't remember the exact amount), a 200, and a 300, all with detachable necks. I also have an Amigo no-fill (which is too tight round his neck), and a fleece. That is all he owns. Aren't I doing well? :D

I put Weatherbeta, because of the Landa Freestyle fits my lad perfectly and still allows for his huge movement. But I also love his MT and Fany's new Fal. I hate, with a passion, Masta and Rhinegold. Too short, too shoddy and too prone to shrink!

Rug that lasted him the longest, with plenty of wear, was the Requisite rug light turnout I bought when we first got him, lasted him years and only going because he has really filled out and it looks like a mini skirt on him!

FDC

Fal Pro- but I've only got 3 rugs as my mare doesn't feel the cold and I don't clip her as she doesn't sweat up much either. So we have a cooler which is weatherbeeta (quite like these too), the Fal Pro turnout and an Amigo stable rug which is not deep enough for my (typically wide barrelled) arab. However she doesn't like any of them and prefers the other option= more food.

I have :

1 Rambo Original, light weight
1 Rambo Supreme, light weight with detachable neck

1 Rambo Plus, medium weight with attached neck
1 Amigo, medium Weight with attached neck
1 Rhino, medium weight with high neck

1 Rambo Plus, heavy Weight with attached neck
2 Rambo Supreme, heavy weight with detachable neck
1 Weatherbeeter, heavy weight with high neck

1 Horseware insulator rug

Don't tell my husband ;)

I dont like Amigos but DO like the Rambo Supreme. Why are Amigo and Rambo lumped together

LOL! I was thinking the same. I LOVE my rambos - best rugs on the market, imo. I appreciated I do have expensive taste in rugs, but I do think the cheap ones are false economy. My new boy is slowly acquiring an impressive Rambo wardrobe, including one that arrived in the post today :D

I suppose if buying on the cheap though, say for one that make well be outgrown, or for an unclipped fatty, then a rhino will do. They're pretty decent too.

I don't any favourite makes as I tend to now buy second-hand and it's more the size I am interested in. My horse at home has seven rugs which I thought was somewhat excessive - she has thin, medium and thick in both stable and turn-out and a cotton summer sheet.
Of those, two were bought brand-new and two were bought second-hand but unused. The summer sheet was given to me.

At one point last winter, I had every rug I own on a horse - none left in the tack room! Best lasting have been Horseware - I have one Rhino rug that's 9 years old and still going strong. Weatherbeeta aren't bad, but the waterproofing goes after a while - I just stick a rain sheet over the top at that point. For 4 that need rugging I have:
- rainsheet for each of them
- 3 fleeces
- 2 MW stable rugs
- 2 HW turnouts
- 3 MW turnouts
- a duvet each

In the depths of winter thiese all combine to 4 combos
1) MW stable + duvet + HW turnout + rainsheet (if really cold + MW turnout - she's a wuss!)
2) HW turnout (+ duvet in -5 or below)
3) MW stable + fleece + MW turnout + rainsheet (+ duvet if -5)
4) 2 fleeces + MW turnout (+ duvet if -5)

I have:

3 fleeces
1 med stable rug
1 hw stable rug
1 fly rug
1 lw t/o
1 mw t/o

and will have a hw t/o once I've decided what to get which will be either an Amigo or Rambo or Rhino

Grumpy has 3; Weathabeeta lightweight, Weathabeeta heavyweight and a Weathabeeta stable. I'd love to buy him more (he's on loan to me for a year), but his owner is so obsessed with keeping his mane all pretty and long (even though she doesn't show him) he's not allowed a rug with a neck and is therefore freezing at the moment, he has both the lightweight and heavyweight on at the moment..
The baby has about 9 (3 of which he's never worn and are sitting in their original packaging at home), they're all turnouts though and none are fleeces as he like to rip them up so gave up :)

Most of mine are DH
He has
Amigo cotton sheet
requisite fleece, DH fleece, DH combo fleece
DH LW stable, DH LW stable combo
Weatherbeeta LW T/O, DH LW T/O, Weatherbeeta Orican LW T/O combo
DH MW stable
DH MW T/O combo
Masta HW stable combo
DH HW T/O combo

Hmm.. 13 rugs plus 2 exercise sheets (fleece and waterproof)

I can't wait to go rug shopping for my Dad's horse when he comes over. I made him promise that I could do it :D

my fav are def amigo/ rambo though I do like swish equine and derby house. Never tried premier equine though would quite like to!
I have (for my 2 horses):
2 x 300g stable combo
2 x 200g stable combo
2 x 100g stable
3 x 100g liner
1 x cooler combo
2 x cooler
4 x sheet
4 x light weight t/o
2 x 50g t/o
2x 200g t/o
3 x 200g t/o combo
2 x 300g t/o combo
3 x exercise sheet
4 x fly rugs

still need a new heavy weight t/o and a new heavy weight stable.
the only reason I have so many is as my horses get better schooled and increase muscle, they have to go up a size in rugs so many are too small but I keep them so when they are old and retired and lose muscle they have some to resort back to.

I like Weaterbeeta, I think they are good quality and you can adjust the front, unlike the Amigo rugs. I have:-

Amigo Fleece
Amigo Lightweight
Weatherbeeta Mediumweight
Weatherbeeta Heavyweight Combo
Kingshead underrug for emergencies (which I've never used)

It doesn't seem many compared to others on the site but I find them more than adequate. My TB lives out 24/7 and I only just put the lightweight on him yesterday. He's unclipped and a hardy soul, he gets too hot if I rug him too early!

I'm a self confessed rug addict!! :p

I love the Amigo's as they look smart, have a range for every occasion, fit snug and don't let the rain through. They also fit my boy perfectly and offer and nice deep cut on his legs. Plus they are well priced. I don't think they last as long but you seem to get for what you pay for.

I like the Rambo's but don't own any (just from past experience) and they seem to last a lifetime so you get value for your money.

I do have a Mark Todd rug, the Coolex, under rug and LW turnout. I like the Coolex but find it can be tight on his shoulders and slips back, as does his under rug. The LW is nice but if it rains it gets very heavy and soaks through.

One of my favourite turnouts is the Premier Equine range. Under rated IMO, good value for money, the rugs last like a Rambo and they are extremely well made and snug! I have a HW turnout and it's like a quilt and my horse loves it. They are deep on the shoulder and don't slip or move about. They also have sales on from time to time and you can get a bargain :D

I'm not a big fan of Derby House/ Robbies/ Shires. I just tend to find their rugs aren't as well made and don't last. I'd rather spend more buying a good rug that'll last.

I have -

Mark Todd coolex fleece
Mark Todd under rug
Mark Todd LW T/O
Amigo LW T/O
x2 Amigo MW T/O without neck
Amigo MW T/O with neck
Amigo fly rug
Premier Equine HW T/O with neck
Rambo exercise fleece
Rhino H/W stable rug
Masta fleece
