Hopefully will be buying my loan pony and he needs new rugs :) so do you think this will be enough? I prefer to layer rather than one huge rug that I can only use for about two months every year

-fleece
-medium stable rug
-duvet
-lightweight turnout
-mediumweight turnout

and I will buy a heavyweight if it gets cold enough in winter :)

I wouldn't worry about buying stable rugs. Mine both have breatheable turnout rugs and I just leave them on when they're in. This way the rugs dry and you don't buy more than you need. :)

Sounds good to me! But once you start buying its a slippery slope to getting addicted. Now is a good time to buy the medium weights as normally the winter stock is reduced for summer.

You might need a fly sheet depending on whether shes prone to sweetich and how bad the flys are, in my last yard it was super windy so i never needed one, but ive had to buy one this year as my new yard is by the river and the flys are just awful :(

I have found that I like to have (per horse);

* a LW turnout

* two MW turnouts (so that you have a spare if one gets soaked)

* a HW turnout

I find that the MW are my most used turnouts, hense why a spare in this weight is good. I like high denier rugs eg 1200d, rather than 600d, as they are tougher and more waterproof.

I always like him to have a change when he gets in, especially if it's raining so he has a nice dry rug on:)

yeah but his outdoor would dry in about an hour on him whereas if you take it off it won't be dry in the morning, so you will be putting a cold damp rug back on to go back out. Can't feel nice after being nice and cozy all night. Just my opinion. I only put stable rug on if i am going to use a different rug the next day.
