My 16.1hh 25 yr old horse has a very narrow chest & all the stable rugs I have draw back on him & often sit on or behind his withers. Any recommendations for a stable rug that actually will fit his front. He takes a 6’3” for body length but the front shoulder / chest length always seems too much for his size.

In a similar situation we used rugs with buckles on the front rather than clips as made them easier to adjust and used thick bandage pads to make a wither protector which helped stop the rug slipping back. These days you can buy the protector.

Agree. I have a really narrow pony and most stuff is too big on his chest. He now has several typhoon’s they are non adjustable at the front but fit him perfectly.
I don’t have any stable rugs so no idea on them but the turnouts are the lightest things ever so I use on on him in the stable too.
Otherwise have you tried Amigo?

Have you tired Bucas rugs OP? They have a different type of front fastening which is much more secure across the chest. They are also lovely rugs!

My pony is narrow in front and I have the same problem. They end up very low down on her chest. She wears 5’9” rugs which are often designed for bigger chunkier ponies than her. Amigo make pony rugs up to 5’9” and these are a fabulous fit for her but so hard to find for sale. Other than that she has a few Bucas rugs.

Rhino wugs. These have fit my narrow mules without any pressure or rubs.

The last one I bought came up a size smaller so the 5'9" mule is wearing a 6' purchased for a horse who is no longer with me that wore a size larger.
