hi could anyone help me as i am unsure about the rules brough out for driving a 7.5 tonne lorry:confused:

do we need a competence liscense if we are just taking our own horses and do we need it if taking a friends horses to places such as fun rides and compitions??

plus on the giving lifts how does insurance go do we need extra insurance incase of any damage is caused to the horse or lorry if they have travelled with us??

from what ive read it seems like you need the liscense for travelling other people horses to and from anywhere. is this correct or not??

plus are there anymore rules and regs that i should be informed about??

thanks

You don;t need to do a certificate of competance for your own horses, and you can travel a friends with yours as long as there is no reward. Hire is when someone pays to use it , and reward is when you are given money or goods for transporting someones horse.

as bosworth says- you need this if you are gaining financial reward through transport, as for the insurance side i'm not sure sorry but would be interested to know the rules on this etc- as long as the horse has their own insurance and you have obviously insurance for the vehicle i thnik then you are covered no?

I think any horse you carry which is within your policy, i.e. NOT for hire and reward, will be covered. But check with your insurer.
