I'm wondering if someone can help me please.

I got a wild card to the Winters this year at Prelim I would like to do an Area Festival with Diva this year but at Novice.

If I did and qualified would I be allowed to go?

I have read that if you competed at the Winter Championships you are not eligible to compete again but I am not sure if this only applies to riders competing at the Winters in BD classes as opposed to Petplan classes.

Thank you

You can compete even at the same level as long as you arent placed in the top 10 the previous time you competed.

Ive competed at prelim and novice open on Bloss and then novice open again on Archie this year.

Great! Thank you.

I am thinking I might have a go at Novice this year - I was a bit put off by the standard at the regionals for this years restricted section - Some were blatantly NOT Novice horses!!!!

She is part qualified so will keep trying and hand over to Mark if she qualifies. I am thinking of Towerlands - have you been?

It depends on whether you competed in Winter Championship classes or Petplan Area Festival Championship classes, The latter do not count as being "Winter Championships".

Anyone who competed in a Winter Championship class - which are the classes where qualification was through a Regional Championship in Jan/Feb/Mar, may not compete at an Area Festival in the same calendar year at the same level or below on any horse.

Riders who competed in an Area Festival Championship class, or Spiller Combined Training Championship at Hartpury are free to compete at an Area Festival at any level on any horse.

Riders who have competed in a Winter or Summer Regional (except music) may not compete the same horse in an Area Festival at the same level or below in that same calendar year.

Tempi - the rule about the top 10/5 applies to riders who have achieved such a placing in the Restricted section at the Winter or National Championships. If their percentage is above the level stipulated, then then must compete in the Open section thereafter. It doesn't apply to the Petplan championships however.

So if a combination compete in a Winter Championship freestyle class they cannot then compete in Area Festivals at that level or below? But they can if they only competed in the freestyle class at regional level?

Correct.

It is easier to qualify for the freestyle regionals than the non music as freestyle qualification passes down.

However - to qualify through to the Winter Championships at freestyle is just as tough as the non music classes and therefore demonstrates a higher level of competence.
