I'm no CR and, as this is part of my hunt prep, I thought I'd post in here.

The search for my brave pants continues, with a lesson with the fabulous Jane Hussell this weekend around Milton Keynes xc course. By most people's standards, we stuck to the baby stuff but I'm still getting my xc/hunt jump confidence back, so this was a big day for me.

I spent the first part of the lesson pretty much terrified, with my heart thumping through the body protector and air jacket combo. The first couple were ok, then quickly moved onto a corner. Slight steering issue as I stared straight at the red flag and unsurprisingly we almost ran into it, with a last minute sweve out. Duh.

I think my mind blanked out for the rest of it until about 10 minutes before the end as all I remember now is a whirl of fences passing by underneath us.

I did totally bottle it at a rail drop fence but instructor's being the miracle workers they are, Jane got me over that wobble and we popped it with me staring off into the horizon hoping it would all be over soon.

Have to say, new ponio is superb and I was so chuffed with her. Slightl less chuffed so with how wussy I can be, but I can see she is going to do wonders for my confidence if we carry on like this. Did lots of fences I'd never attempt with my other horse, she takes xc fences on with real gusto, has a great jump and lots of scope and, importantly, makes up for the bravery xc that I lack.

I just hope that I can keep up with her, and keep giving her good experiences so she keeps that boldness. Next stage is a 1 day clinic with Harry Meade in Oct, then I have no excuse to get out there on the hunt field (complete with brave pants!) :D:D:D
