Running nose - any ideas?

Thick yellow discharge from one nostril of horse, otherwise ok, but when ridden started to cough. Any ideas anyone? Vaccines up to date. I will get the vet but would be good to research possible things if anyone has a suggestion.

An infection of some type, possibly sinus, I would not be riding if it is also coughing.

definitely get vet out if coughinga s well - could be a nasty lung infection/pneumonia

Virus get antibiotics for 5 days, a sinus infection would not induce coughing

Yeah the coughing worried me, stopped riding as soon as it started. Was not coughing when not ridden.... Just googled and had the horrible half hour when lots of serious things appear on web pages, fingers crossed not any of those shall see what vet says
