Tonight I tried a first run with Millie lurcher, and it went surprisingly well. I am slow lol, she is 2 years old, mad as a box of frogs and can take all the exercise you can give her :D

I quickly realised that a harness would be good, especially as she is a pointy nose so is prone to backing out of her collar at inopportune moments! Now I have no desire to do canicross (I hate off road running!) and I won't be doing this very often or very far, so wondered if anyone has suggestions for a reasonably priced harness for a lurcher? She doesn't pull, she trots nicely at my side..... unless there are things to chase, when being a sighthound she is off :D

I got a cheap stretchy material jobby and it seems to work well enough. Cost about a tenner iirc and has adjustable nylon straps. The attachment point is between the shoulder blades and mine can't get out forwards or backwards. My daft bu99er thinks it's funny to try to get under my feet though.

most important for harness is nothing pressing on windpipe and freedom of shoulder.
do you have a fb canix group? ours is really helpful and often will lend kit to try to see what suits.

I have a Perfect Fit harness, which has a Y front for ease of movement. To me it appears very in restrictive. I then have a walking belt and elastic lead for jogging (mine is 9 months so I just jog to keep up whilst he is trotting along rather than me taking him running specifically), but I love the hands free aspect of the belt and lead attachment, especially as he’s a car chaser and I always worry about dropping the lead accidentally.

It also means that the forward back movement of your arms as you run doesn’t accidentally keep pulling on your dog. I use it all the time now.
