.... So the girl is back in ridden work following three weeks off (2 non related injurys!) and I am to build up her hacking until thursday when she sees the physio again. Today she was sweet going out but on way home (sadly not a circular route as have to build up distance slowley) she strted to get very would up, eventually rearing and bucking in retaliation to my attempts to keep her in a foward going walk (she just wanted to get home asap!), so I got off as in my case I know I am safer and in more control on the ground and walked the last 1/4mile home.
Any suggestions on how to deal with this behaviour? SHould I push her into a trot? Make her halt? Turn around?
Thanks- heres hoping for a saner time tomorrow.
(Btw she is only 5 and is going to be full of it with only a few days turnout a week and boring lunge/longrein sessions twice a day!)

My mare used to behave like this on any there-and-back-again ride when she was a baby. The only way round it was to do circular routes. Sounds like you would be safer to do slightly longer rides that can be circular - surely she will do herself more harm when she is leaping about than she would do by walking a bit further? My mare grew out of it and will now happily do any sort of ride!
