What do you mean? Are you looking for specific names of trainers who are sole traders?

I am a sole trader and I would think that most livery yard owners, dealers, trainers are also sole traders.

Sorry but you will have to be more clear on what sort of answers you are looking for.

A sole trader is just someone who is in business by their selves, they can still employ staff (i think) but the actual business belongs to them alone i.e as opposed to a partnership, where two or more people would jointly own the business.
So, prehaps a dealer, who buys a couple of horses to bring on then sells them on; or a small livery yard; an instructor, or professional jockey.
A sole trader would usually be a small business as due to tax implications; if your business was making alot of profit it would be more benificial to be a Ltd co or even a partnership, even if the business was exactly the same

sorry, i am not looking for specific names of trainers, i am looking for examples as in what type of horse trainers are sole traders. e.g. are natural horsemanship trainers sole traders?? or breaking and starting yards sole traders? or are they a different type of business??

thanks,

hope you understand, its hard to explain, especially when i dont understand it much myself!!

An example would be a freelance trainer, and their P&L would look something like this:

Expenditure:

Petrol
Depreciation on vehicle
Personal Insurance
Third party liability insurance
Protective clothing

Income:

Riding
Clipping
Travelling expenses
Teaching

Profit/Loss

Hope that helps

Anyone can be a sole trader. All it means is that you (one person) own the company outright. Tax implications etc are just different depending on which type of business ownership you choose to have.

With regard to 'who' is a sole trader, anyone can be a sole trader regardless of the product or services being provided. It's basically themselves or the product they are providing and are not in partnership with anyone else, so a flower stall could be sole trader, as could a horse dealer, trainer, any one.

a sole trader is one person that owns a company they can employe an adittional 3 people to work for them. they have unlimited liabilliy meaning if the company goes bankrupt they are personally liable and personal possetions are at risk.

so there for anyone can be a soletrader
