Was a good day really - Hattie excelled herself as usual, sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky and there were lots of people around to chat to so a very sociable event too
smile.gif

Did a bit of a boring test - nothing wrong with it but completely uninspiring so 34.3 was a suitable mark really. On to the SJing and she was seriously jumping out of her skin - felt awesome. At which point muppet jockey goes and makes ridiculous error! comes through over the double which was then on 5 even strides to planks, what do i go and do... try and kick for 4 strides!!!
mad.gif
mad.gif
completely impossible to get there on 4, just wasnt going to happen so she just had to flick the planks out
frown.gif
then gave the rest of the course feet to spare bless her. I felt like i'd let her down so badly - im still seething about it now i want to physically beat myself up about it im so angry!!! lol!

crazy.gif
Hattie just didnt deserve to have a fence down!

Onto the XC and she was fantastic, apart for nearly ditching me at the 4th (a hanging log on a turn down hill) where i jumped well before she decided she was committed and i was on her ears as she climbed her way over it once she'd decided it was actually a jump! She then towed me like a runaway train all the way to the quarry where she decided she was going to walk over the coffin - one foot at a time
blush.gif
this was followed by a sizeable wide house on an angle 2 strides away which she decided was only worth trotting over! giving me another heart attack - think she was giving me my just deserves for getting her wrong in the SJing!
tongue.gif
She then finished really well inside the time
smile.gif

So we finished 7th which really doesnt sound bad at all and im really pleased with Hattie but she really deserved the 3rd place she should have got had i not made such a silly mistake
frown.gif
never mind! lol. Id hire Hatts any day but for goodness sake sack the jockey!!
tongue.gif

On another note we met Sarah_Jane, her Mum and the lovely Sarnie!
grin.gif
They had a lovely day today - Sarnie is gorgeous and so talented and Sarah Jane gave her a lovely ride so really well do to them

very well done you!

and if having one pole down jumping classifies you as a muppet... then there is no hope for me at all!

I was there today while the intermediate was going on - just turned up as S_J was finishing. Shame they didn't leave the numbers on the other courses as I haven't walked the PN there, and would liked to have known which jumps it was!

i guess if she just clipped the planks with her foot or something i would have been a bit annoyed but ok with it, it was just that id made such a classic error when i knew damn well i had to ride it for 5 strides - grr!! i know its only 4flts but she's so careful she deserve to go clear!

That house after the coffin wasnt much fun if you had no impulsion! thought it was fairly meaty as Hattie pootled up to it and heaved herself over!

Didnt see that they'd taken the numbers off the PN and novice courses - thats a shame. If it helps at all the PN course was the flower bed with yellow flowers in it, 2 was the sharks bigger sharks teeth, 3 was a pheasant feeder, 4 was the second hanging log into the bottom field where the intermediates jumped a down hill double to the left of it. 5 was another pheasant feeder, 6 was step up to skinny brush, 7 was left handed ditch palisade, 8 was roll top, 9 was chair to right of huge intermediate bank complex, 10 was trakhener, 11 was steeple chase, 12 was log, 2steps down to 13 an angled skinny rolltop. 14 was coffin to house in quarry 15 was stepped portable jump at top of quarry, 16 was double of apex fences, 17 was cart, 18 water, step out to hanging log to finish
smile.gif
(some things were numbered seperately as i think there were actually 20 fences but that gives you an idea

Honestly, blooming 7th and you STILL beat yourself up about. You are human, and allowed to make mistakes, and if thats your "bad" day youve got alot to smile about

Good result.

Yes because unfortunately im a perfectionist and try and find fault in everything - Hattie couldnt have done more so im chuffed to bits but as for me personally i felt i rode that one fence like a muppet and consequently im furious that i could have ridden it better than i did and yet i made the mistake that i knew before i went in i shouldnt have done!! Im very happy with Hattie she did everything and more than she was asked - as for me i just guess i felt i should have done more!

as i say - i actually had a lovely day and Hattie was just awesome as usual, i just really felt i really could have helped her out there and i didnt. its not the end of the world and 7th is still great but its hard to explain that i feel that pole down was the end of the world!! the main positive to take out of it is that i know it was completely my fault and i wont make that mistake again

Well done

At least it was your mistake, and as annoying as it is, it would be worse if she'd suddenly decided show jumps weren't worth picking her feet up over! Best make your mistakes at this level before you get to Badminton

I'd settle for 7th, mind you i think thats my highest BE placing ever

No you don't sound childish at all! I absolutely hate it when i mess up, i completely understand what you're saying! If you weren't bothered about making mistakes it would be more worrying!

Going SJ some point during the week for the second time, haven't xc schooled her and i think i might have to work very hard to get a decent dressage out of her! Oh well, helping on Sunday so that should be fun even if saturday goes horribly wrong!

Cool will do! I'm riding a big dark bay mare, with a star and a white nose (which is more than likely to be in the air!) Its her first BE so may be interesting!

ETA - second one from left in my sig!

Well done for 7th - if you're a perfectionist, then I can totally understand why you are frustrated though!! Not that it will make that much difference to you, but those planks were coming down rather frequently.... Im glad I spoke to you beforehand as it made me wait for that extra stride and so we managed to leave them up!

She looked lovely as usual, and it certainly isnt childish to be frustrated for knocking down that fence - sounds more like the attitude of a professional who wants to win!!

Fantastic result - well done!!
I know what you mean about beating yourself up when you make a mistake like that because I do it too, but like someone else said - we are only human and can't be perfect all the time. Just think about all those fences you DIDN'T make a mistake over!

wow, Hattie really is Miss Consistent

welldone on a great result, and try not to be so hard on yourself, even the pros make mistakes! Easier said than done I know - I'm terrible at coming out and picking apart my round, even if I went clear!
