Hi guys havn't been on here for a long time.Long story short (hopefully). I posted about this time last year about my TB who injured his elbow and vet thought would be lost cause, well we kept him on and he is now sound and in work in all paces, just cant jump and has restricted range of motion in injured elbow. BUT as title suggests we have a new problem in that he does not posture to wee and only dribbles urine when bladder overflows. We believe he may have crushed the nerve that controls the bladder when intial injury ocured but went unnoticed for so long as he couldnt posture to wee for so long due to literally being on 3 legs. Well the point is I would like to know if any one has any experience of managing this condition long term. Turned out longer than I'd hoped thanks for reading and any feedback would be much appreciated.

i posted an article on saddle-up recently about sabulous cystitis that was in the Vet Record recently. worth you going over there and having a look. it's in the vet forum.

Hi, My horse has just been diagnosed with Sabulous Cystitis. The condition started only after he had been admitted to a veterinary hospital for a severe puncture wound. I am not sure if such a traumatic event was the trigger or not, but he's been dribbling urine, and progressively worsening since the end of April (2008). We are now at a point where it is no longer occasional dripping, but almost constant. My vet said the prognosis is dim, especially due to his age (23). I hope yours is better. If you don't mind, could you tell me how your horse got this, and how you will plan to treat it? The lavage with the catheter method seems too invasive for my older horse, so I don't want to go that route.
