Whilst I couldn't think of defending his beliefs, I would be sorry to hear that those beliefs were the reasoning behind his dismissal.

Assuming that everything is as it's been reported (;)) then his views shouldn't have been grounds for his dismissal. I do though, wonder if it was a rather lame excuse, and one which was used, to get rid of a useless member of staff.

Things may not be as they seem!!

His views are VERY extreme. Hashman is not JUST anti-hunting - he's been a 'leading' saboteur and AR activist for 30 odd years. And he's a bit of an expert at screwing money out of his former employers too - in 2005 he was 'unable to work' after a fall and screwed his Council employers for nearly £30,000. Being 'unable to work' left him free to hound hunts (and film Clarissa Dickson-Wright.) If you had inadvertently employed a hunt sab who has been flouting the law for 30 years, would you feel comfortable keeping him around?? I wouldn't!
