Does anyone know if continued work prior to diagnosis of sacro illiac muscle, joint or tendon injury affects the outcome?
My friend's mare has had low grade non-specific lameness for a few months. Prior to that, the only indication that anything was wrong was her bucking going into canter. She had the chiropractor to see her, had her saddle re-done etc and continued to hack her as she seemed fine to hack. At one point it was thought that it was behavioural as she was sound to trot up, for flexion tests etc. However, after putting her on bute for a trial period, the problems evaporated. They took her off the bute and it all started again. They've now pinpointed it, after months of vets, chiro's etc and she's off for a gamma scintography. My friend is really worried that the time between the start of the problems and now is going to affect her recovery. Does anyone have any experience of this that they could share?
Needless to say, she is more than happy to put in whatever is required in terms of the horse's recovery, but I think she really needs a light at the end of the tunnel right now...
