... Saddle is quite a large saddle, friend reckons it's about an 18.5 seat. Horse has sacroid on his back (right on top) which saddle touches. It's a small sacroid.

Would you get vet out to see if horse can be ridden again or possibly saddle fitter to try and see if we could get a smaller seat saddle (that wouldn't go as far back that it wouldn't touch the sacroid!) :s

Opinions welcome! :)

Has the sarcoid been there for a while and has the saddle irritated it ?
Is it definately a sarcoid ?

Personally if the saddle is not bothering it and the sarcoid has not changed shape, grown or started bleeding I would leave well alone.
If you get the vet out now he/she may say leave it well alone but you have to tell your insurance company (if you are insured) that the vet has been to see it. If a year on , it gets worse it is unlikely the insurance will pay out.

May be well to get a saddler out to check the fit of your saddle and you may be able to downsize so that you and your horse has a comfortable saddle that won't cause problems

I will say though it is your entirely your decision as to whether to get the vet out to check it out.You can see the offending sarcoid it I can't

In this instance I would get the vet to look at it and see if it can be treated. Don't try treating it yourself, most of the stuff available from the shops is expensive and doesn't work - I speak from experience....

Yes definitely get the vet to check and I left a sarcoid in my geldings groin (on advice from another vet) and it grew very quickly. They can be dormant for years and then suddenly in a matter of just a couple of weeks they can grow. I won't bore you all with the long winded story of it all but homeopathic treatment worked in the end.
