Sad day

Today a friends dog was put to sleep she was very old and was very ill last night. My friend is on holiday at the moment. I went over to her house and dug the hole to bury Tia in. It was so sad Lyla my friends other dog is struggling with the fact Tia has gone and when we went to bury her Tia was in a box wrapped in her blanket when we opened the box to get her out Lyla jumped in the box and curled up next to Tia. I held Lyla while we buryed her and she just watched with the saddest look on her face that just broke my heart. I cuddled her for ages after and hated leaving her when i had to go. She is being looked after by another friend and is being cared for very well. She has lots of other dogs for company but misses Tia very much. It has been such a hard sad day for everyone. I just hope Lyla is going to be ok.

Hopefully with her other company she will get over it in time x

How is her owner taking it?

I am lucky that my dogs have always been quite OK when I have lost one of my oldies, but I do hope Lyla doesnt miss Tia too much

I am sure your friend will be very grateful to you for what you did x
 
How very sad. The fact that Lyla saw Tia's body will hopefully help her to accept it, but if they were very close she may well grieve for a while. Hopefully the fact there are other dogs about will help her.
 
So sad, she will come round though it just takes a bit of time and lots of TLC, which it sounds like she is getting.

Thanks everyone i'm shore Lyla will get over it. It just broke my heart to see her like that. The funny thing is they used to argue all the time and no one thought they liked each other, but Lyla looked after Tia last night when she was ill. Apparently she slept next to her all night even though Tia was being sick and had bad diorrea (sorry can't spell). She was there when Tia was put down and slept next to her for a while after.
The owner is very upset even though we all knew it was coming it's hard for her being so far away.
