Sad day :(

We lost a pony today at the yard. She was only 8 years old. She was checked at 9am when someone went to get another pony from the stable block and was fine.
By 9.30 when the yard owner went to let her out in the field she was dead.

The vet thinks it was a heart attack and very sudden.

This has got me thinking that we do everything possible to make our horses/ponies safe and well, then something like this can take them away in a short space of time.

aww so sad, yes it can happen as quick as that, never a nice thing!
My friend lost her mare a few years ago to a heart attack, she never made it in time to the yard sadly and hates herself for it.
Mare suddenly made a groan, fell to floor and that was it she was gone and she was only 15 so not hugely old at all.

Thats very sad. In 89 my horse was loaned out to a lovely lady,but he got poorly and she had the vet out,but one morning she found him dead in his stable. My friend told me as I was working in germany. I cried alot.
